194th Session (2015-2016) Excursions

On Saturday 11th July 2015, at 10am
It is proposed to provide Fellows with an opportunity to visit the site of the new Queensferry Crossing bridge currently under construction and scheduled for completion in 2016.
The dates suggested are either Saturday 4th July or Saturday 11th July, with the visit commencing at 10.00am. The plan is to meet at the new visitor centre at South Queensferry (located just behind the petrol station and on the site of the old hotel.) After a short presentation in the Centre we would board a coach that would take us to the site of the southern building site to see progress on the south side before driving over the existing road bridge to the North Queensferry site which is where the road platforms are assembled prior to their being incorporated into the main bridge structure.
This is a unique opportunity for Fellows to visit the site to see progress and learn more about the structure, surrounding roadways and future use of both road bridges.
There will be a charge of £10 for the visit as we can only visit the two building sites if we have a coach, which we would need to hire.
If you are interested in visiting the bridge could you please let Peter Jones <excursions2015@rssa.org.uk> (or 0131 622 0428) know by April 25th. Please indicate your prefered date and if you would still wish to attend should the visit take place on the other date.
